Colour Vario Indicator

This vario indicator has the same functionality as the Digital LCD Vario shown below but it has a colour vario display with mechanical needle. Can be used as an extension meter with LX 5000/7000/7007/166/16/1606 (specify vario type when ordering). It is not, in itself, a vario but purely a meter for connection to a vario, as listed above.

Remote Operation Device

Stick Control Unit

Fits on the control column to provide stick-top remote operation of the LX 5000/7000/7007/Mini Map. PTT is integral as centre button (available with 18mm (DG), 20mm (Schempp) or 24mm (Schleicher) internal diameter, specify with order). For self launching Schempp Hirth gliders a special version with the required extra engine red button is available.

Splitting Units and the LX 7000 series

Many LX instruments can have a number of other units connected to the system bus and there are two types of splitting unit connectors normally used to facilitate this. Where the system is ordered as, for example, a double instrument for a 2-seater or if a Remote Control is specified, then the necessary splitter will normally be provided as part of the supplied installation package. In other cases a splitter will need to be provided separately. There are two types in common use; the 485 and 232. However, LX navigation can provide a variety of other splitters as shown below the 485 and 232:

Mounting Bracket

This is made from aluminium and consists of one spring and a preformed aluminium plate.

Both parts are painted black. Installation is achieved by means of two screws.

The mounting frame does not have any connectors

Power Supply

To ensure continuous power supply from the glider a special interface can be inserted between glider 12V source and Colibri II. The unit converts 12V into 5V and this reduced voltage is applied to the Colibri II power management. After connection to glider power the Colibri battery will remain full and will offer its full capacity even if glider power fails.
