Personal Flight Recorder for under £100 !
The FlywithCE Personal Flight Recorder is approved by the BGA as a Position
Recorder for Silver and Gold Badge Flights only.
Prices correct at 26 Aug 10
Many pilots will find the new inexpensive pocket sized Personal Flight
Recorder useful for basic flight analysis (and for OLC in many instances)
but for some gliding badge claims, all record attempts and competition
flights, IGC (International Gliding Commission) approved flight recorders
(loggers) are normally required. Please note that some versions of Flarm
have IGC approval (see Flarm section).
Under a recent change by the IGC these units can now be approved
for national Silver and Gold distance badge flights (click here to see
the new IGC
regulations) – UK approval has been granted. Click
here for the
approval link
The new Personal Flight Recorder will be attractive to a wider aviation
community than gliding; record your powered aircraft cross country flight,
and see where you went, for example ! As well as being a serious analytical
tool, it is also a great fun device...........
Note. All IGC flight data recorders supplied directly to our customers
by LX avionics Ltd are pre-loaded with BGA TPs free
of charge.
| Personal Flight Recorder
This non-IGC approved Personal Flight Recorder is aimed at those
pilots, and not just glider pilots, who would like to have a
playback facility to analyse their flights. With a size of only
70mm x 37mm x 24 mm (measure this image!) and
weighing under 50 gms the Personal Flight Recorder fits easily
in the pocket. Easy to use with just an on-off switch and powered
by 2x internal batteries (AAA size or NiMH rechargeable equivalent)
the Recorder uses a low-cost consumer GPS logging device and
records GPS position and altitude. Integral GPS antenna. One
year warranty is included.
Flight playback is against a Google Earth background and shows
the track flown in an easy to read format. With IGC analysis
software more information can be extracted.

trace opens full screen.

Supplied as follows:

drivers
2 x AAA NiMH (1000mAh) and USB charger or equivalent
Free delivery within UK
Compare this product with similar ones:
Differences:
- 100 hours recording capacity
- outputs IGC format
- IGC declaration
- proper IGC file
- IGC file format files can be used for OLC (this status is
still not 100%)
- output to Google Earth
- 3D view
- off-line it offers more (you do not have to be connected
to check the flights)
- logbook software functionality
- browse flights by pilot, aircraft, flight time,…
Basically, the Personal Flight Recorder behaves as an IGC flight
recorder in that it produces an IGC file. Other known devices
and software cannot currently produce this output.
The Personal Flight Recorder and the software supplied with
it gives the user a powerful piece of equipment for flight documentation
and analysis.

The FlywithCE Personal Flight Recorder is approved by the BGA
as a Position Recorder for Silver and Gold Badge Flights only.

New Colibri – F Flight Recorder
 Colibri
with Flarm
The smallest Flight Recorder with a display with high level IGC
approval (pending)
Now with both SD card and Flarm
Overview
Colibri is small in size but big in functionality. When used
as a stand-alone unit it can be used for real time navigation,
wind calculation and logging engine status; when connected to
another system it can be used to supply a GPS signal.
This latest upgrade of Colibri by the addition of Flarm makes
the unit potentially an even more popular flight recorder to add
to the 1000s already in use worldwide. A 100% Flarm compatible
electronic system has been built into the already diminutive Colibri
housing. The Flarm antenna connector is positioned on the top
of the unit and permits either a ¼ wave antenna or an extended
antenna to be connected. The standard Flarm external display is
also part of the delivery and is connected via a USB form of connector.
All existing IGC and navigation functions remain unchanged and,
in addition, the built in Flarm flight recorder (not IGC approved)
provides a back up.
Please note that the mini usb port of the Colibri Flarm is used
solely for the Flarm display and update function and not for routine
flight downloads etc.
All you need to claim badges, records or competition flights;
and now with Flarm
Features:
- Integral Flarm
- SD memory card (can be used to transfer flights, TP/TSK
data and flight info)
- Membrane keyboard
- Multi Pilot/Glider set up
- If connected to a LX 160/LX 1600 and SeeUMobile/FlywithCE/Win
Pilot or LX 7000 without GPS the Colibri becomes part of an advanced
Flight System
- High Level IGC approval (pending as at Feb 07) makes
the Colibri the ideal IGC Flight Recorder to claim your badge,
record and competition flights.
